Gratitude is huge. It always turns things around for me when I'm feeling stressed or discouraged.
I'm stressed because I have too much work. ... I'm grateful that I have work and to be doing what I love. I'm angry that I don't have more personal time ... I'm grateful that I'm alive & healthy and that I have a loving, supportive family. I'm annoyed when someone doesn't agree with me ... I'm grateful that we live in a country where people can express their opinions freely. I'm frustrated because I don't understand something ... I'm grateful for new challenges because they give me the opportunity to learn and grow. I'm disappointed in myself when I make mistakes ... I'm grateful that my mistakes teach me valuable lessons.
I know it is impossible to be positive all the time. But the next time you're not feeling your best self, I urge you to practice a little gratitude.
Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday of the year because it reminds us to give thanks for the people we love and for the blessings that have come our way. In my opinion, a simple 'thank you' always goes a long way. People like being appreciated for who they are and what they do.
...aaaand I'm beyond grateful that my pups don't hate me for dressing them up in the monkey hat. ; ) Hope everyone has a wonderful day of thanks! I leave you with a quote that I read on one of my friend's walls on Facebook this morning:
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. - John F. Kennedy (Thanks, Kathleen!)
