Brooklyn // First Birthday

Brooklyn just turned 18 months old so these are better late than never, right? :) I wanted to post a few photos of Brooklyn's first birthday party last May because it was a big success! The theme was flowers, and we celebrated our little "May flower" at our home. We're so thankful for the family and friends that could make it special for her. (Special shout out to my brother-in-law, Alden, who took photos for us while Brooklyn was opening her presents. We're ever-so-grateful!)

I also wanted to include a few photos of her actual birthday, which was during the week. We took her out to lunch with family and to our neighborhood playground - pretty much a toddler's dream.

Brooklyn // Pumpkin Patch

A couple of weeks ago, I took Brooklyn to Butler's Orchard to pick a couple of small pumpkins for our front stoop. She LOVED it, and I loved watching her frolic around the patch. The weather was perfect - sunny and temperate - and after picking pumpkins, we sat under a tree and ate blueberries together. The morning will forever be embedded in my heart.

As time gets closer to the birth of our second child, I am having such mixed emotions. I cannot wait to meet our little man and bond and grow our family. I know my heart will expand tenfold. On the other hand, I'm getting a little weepy that it won't be just Brooklyn and me anymore. When the hubs is at work during the week, we've become each others' side kicks, and I'm doubtful that I'm ready to start dividing my attention. So even though I'm getting more and more tired as the third trimester progresses, I'm trying really hard to make these moments count and soak up all her loveliness and charm. Here's to filling up the memory bank with my original muse.

Brooklyn // Our Spirited Adventurer (7 months to 1 year)

It seems like yesterday that I posted photos of our teeny tiny ball of light. But our baby girl isn't such a baby anymore. Brooklyn is an assertive and delightful little toddler, who started walking early and hasn't stopped since! Her personality is blooming (/is in full bloom), and she's just got the sweetest disposition. She gives the BEST hugs and her laugh breaks our heart on a daily basis. There have definitely been some hard times (teething and short naps come to mind, phewwww!), but the good moments FAR outweigh the rough ones. We call her our wild child, and I'm SO grateful and proud that she's my kid.

I haven't shared photos of her on the blog since she was about 6.5 months old so these photos are long overdue! They begin when she was about seven months old and go up until just before her first birthday. We experienced so much during this time. To name a few: Brooklyn met her great grandfather, she had play dates with good friends, we visited the National Aquarium in Baltimore, we vacationed at the beach a couple of times (SHE LOVES THE BEACH!), and we visited the cherry blossoms in D.C. during the peak season.

I seriously cannot believe that our spirited adventurer turned 17 months old this week. With baby #2 on the way soon, I'm starting to nest and reflect more. : ) I'll have more photos to share soon! Here is a little piece of my heart...

My heart is full.

Thanks SO much to everyone for the well wishes on our second pregnancy. We're overjoyed and thankful you can share in our happiness!

I think I've finally figured out my new blog — the technical aspects, anyway; formatting and style comes next! Double bonus points that I figured out how to import content from my old blog URL (http://melissatuckblog.com) — at least dating back to August 2010. Hooray for not having to say goodbye to five+ years of blog content!  My old blog will be deleted soon. Moving forward, please come to this URL: www.melissatuckphoto.com/blog. ALL of this to say that I will be able to start blogging on a regular basis SOON!

And so I leave you with my full heart in one photo: Brooklyn and the hubs on the beach with the wind blowing through their long locks. : )
