KELLY + REED - Georgetown University Wedding

Washington-DC-wedding-photographer-Kelly-Reed_0001 Kelly and Reed were married on a pretty temperate (for mid-August!) day in Washington, DC at Dahlgren Chapel on Georgetown University's campus (where they first met). It was my first time photographing on campus, and I'm hooked. There are SO many beautiful buildings and gorgeous landscaping for photo ops! Their reception was held not too far away at The Fairmont Washington D.C. It was classy and sophisticated -- a perfect reflection of the couple. I loved the tablescapes, especially, because Reed's sister drew landmarks special to their relationship as place settings. It was so unique!

I have a funny story that I have to share about how I met Kelly (and Reed) and ended up becoming their wedding photographer. Kelly contacted me about a year ago, simply asking me where one of my brides found her wedding dress. I responded and gave her the information but then also added that I would be moving to the D.C. area for my husband's job and asked if she'd found her photographer yet. They hadn't, so we set up a Skype chat, and the rest is history. I love the Internet. : )

Thanks to Stefanie Harrington Photography for helping me shoot their wedding! Enjoy some favorites, y'all!

They have a lot of friends that went to Georgetown. : )

Groomsman snapping a selfie while I do bride and groom portraits. So glad Stefanie got this - hysterical!

Between the ceremony and reception, we headed out to the Jefferson Memorial for some quick photos on the back lawn. So fun!

I love this - so punny - their married name is Van Beveren. : )

So many AMAZING-looking (and tasting, I'm sure!) hors' d'oeuvres!

I love the magazine Real Simple. It's chock full of good stuff about recipes, home decorating, exercise tips... but it also includes things about weddings. SO, I was ecstatic to find out (through a fellow colleague Lauren Cowart - love her) that one of my images was published in their "27 must-take wedding photo ideas" gallery. I love this image -- all the ladies are so happy and beautiful and the dresses are so bright and lovely. Go see the full gallery HERE.

Happy Tuesday, y'all! I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. : )

WHITNEY + REED - Biltmore Ballrooms Wedding

Whitney & Reed -- my first wedding of 2012! This first frame is one of my absolute favorites. I think it perfectly captures just HOW excited and thrilled they were to be marrying each other. : )

They were married in mid-February on a chilly day at the Biltmore Ballrooms in Atlanta, Georgia. And although it rained a good portion of their wedding day, Reed & Whitney could have cared less (which is the biggest compliment I can give!). Some special moments that stood out in my mind were: Reed's face when he saw Whitney for the first time, the ADORABLE ring bearer doing splits during the wedding party photos, Reed & Whitney tearing it up on the dance floor and their energy-filled exit to War Eagle (the Auburn fight song).

Such a gorgeous bride!

There was some difficulty figuring out how to tie the bow ties, but with some detailed instructions and YouTube videos, they got the job done!

LOVE this.

Whitney wrapped some lace from her grandmother's wedding dress around her bouquet.

Another favorite!

The ballrooms were exquisite!
