Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of equipment do you use?

I’m a Canon lover. I primarily shoot with the Canon 5D Mark IV and have a variety of the best Canon lenses (wide, prime & telephoto). I also have some fun toy cameras, but I only pull those out if there’s time to experiment and the situation is relaxed.

Do you bring back-up equipment?

Yes, always!

Do you have any formal training?

I graduated with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication with a concentration in photojournalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

How would you describe your style?

A blend of photojournalistic and artful. I try and capture timeless images while keeping things fun, fresh and stylish!

Do you always work with a second photographer for weddings?

Not necessarily. A smaller-scale wedding may only require myself, but I do have a wide network of photographers who are able to shoot upon request for an additional cost.

Do you shoot in black & white or color?

I always shoot in color. I deliver a collection of b&w and color.

“I’m camera shy and not too comfortable in front of a camera…”

No worries! I want to make everyone as comfortable as possible at all times. I'm sometimes known to tell a few corny jokes. Deep breaths help too. ; )

Do you ever double book a day?

No. I only photograph one wedding per day. I may photograph two weddings per weekend during high-volume wedding months.

Will you scout our location with us or help us brainstorm for spots?

Yes! I love having a voice in where you’d like to shoot. I’ll only visit a spot a long time ahead if it’s within a reasonable distance (~1 hrs) from the Raleigh, NC area. If it’s a travel wedding, I typically arrive with enough time to plan ahead for the day.

Do you help with formulating a timeline for the day?

Yes, I’d love to help with this process. Although the day does get hectic and may not go as planned, I think it’s important to have a general flow in place so people know when to be ready for the formal pictures.

How long does it take to get the photos after the wedding?

For portrait sessions, no longer than 4 weeks. For weddings, no longer than 10 weeks.

How many photos can we expect?

It depends on the wedding and the amount of coverage, but on average, I typically deliver around 80 edited images per hour. For portrait sessions, a minimum of 100 images. For newborn sessions, a minimum of 75 (balanced of posed and lifestyle).

Do I get a copy of the photos?

Yes, all wedding packages include the ability to download high-resolution photos in .jpg format directly from your gallery with unlimited personal printing rights. For portrait sessions, you can purchase the files as an added cost.

Why are albums so expensive? Why does it take so long to receive them?

All of my album options are hand crafted from the highest quality, archival materials and are individually custom-designed, which takes time and precision to create. I promise — it’s worth the wait!

Where are you based? Do you travel?

I call Cary, North Carolina home. I will travel for weddings on a limited basis. Travel fees may apply.

How do we book you?

To book your date or portrait session, I require a signed contract and 50% of your contracted amount, which will go toward your overall payment.

What kind of payment do you accept?

Currently, check, cash or Venmo.
