Why hello there world. Because I haven't posted to the ol' blog in awhile, let me begin by wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR! I am beyond thrilled for what 2014 holds and hope y'all are as well. Exciting things are currently happening in our world, as we finally settled on our home in Germantown, Maryland last week! Things are a bit nuts. : ) In fact, as I type, some very nice gentlemen are installing new carpet in the master bedroom. The hubs and I have picked out a new bed (frame and mattress - how exciting!), and he will be painting some rooms this weekend while I enjoy a girls weekend "away" in DC. : ) After that, I finally get to start nesting for baby girl Tuck. Super excited about preparing her nursery...! In all the craziness that's been going on, I've still yet to get a "best of 2013" blog post up. Not to worry -- that will be coming! But first, I'm SO thrilled to share with you my last session of 2013. I met up with these cuties -- Stephanie and Zach -- in Greenville, South Carolina while I was visiting family in North Carolina over the holidays. I LOVED shooting these two. They are SO incredibly sweet and definitely brought their A-game to the session with lots of snuggles and smiles. Can't wait for their wedding this fall. Enjoy these lovelies!
SARA + CHRIS ENGAGED!
Last weekend I popped out of bed at 6 a.m. (well, maybe rolled out, let's be real...: )) and met Sara and Chris in DC for their sunrise winter engagement session. Despite the early rise, I had the most enjoyable time on an unseasonably warm morning! Ryan also came along with me for this one to carry my gear (thanks hubs!), and we all just clicked. These two are a delight to be around. I originally met Sara during freshman year of college at UNC (my goodness we must've been 18 years old... babies!), and I met her fiance at a wedding last year, so it was fun to reconnect with both of them. We started out in Georgetown at the waterfront park and ended at the Jefferson Memorial, where both locations hold sentimental memories for the couple. And to make it even more special... the shoot landed on their one-year anniversary of being engaged! Enjoy these adorable folks. : )
One of my faves. : )
The light was so pretty down by the Tidal Basin!
RACHEL + TREVOR ENGAGED!
Rachel contacted me about doing an engagement session for her and her hubby-to-be, Trevor, once I'd moved to the Washington, DC area. Ironically, they are getting married in Georgia but live here and wanted to do the session where they met and fell in love. I had such a great time hearing about their beach proposal and chasing the light with them on a crystal-clear day (and I'm talking high of mid-60's, too!). We started out the session by walking around Senate Park and the Capitol Building. Then we headed to Georgetown and played on the cobblestone streets and found some trees still bright with color. Congratulations you two, and may all the happiest days together lie ahead of you! And I just HAD to create an animation for this: a house divided! Trevor is a Florida gator fan while Rachel claims those Georgia dawgs. ; )
LAUREN + STEVE ENGAGED!
Because baby Tuck is on the way (and therefore my limited bookings next year), I didn't have many opportunities this fall to shoot engagement sessions, which makes me a little sad because it's my favorite season to shoot engagements! Enter: Lauren and Steve. : ) We met up at Berry College for their session and goodness gracious! Fall must've known my camera was missing it dearly. : ) This day was particularly gorgeous -- clear, crisp air, colorful leaves and a gorgeous sun to boot. Throw in a cuddly couple (and their pups!), and I'm living my dream. Here are some of my favorites, y'all!
SO glad they wanted to add their pups, Buddy and Miller, into some of the shots. : )
MORGAN + DREW ENGAGED!
Give me a fun-loving, adorable couple and a double rainbow, and I'll give you some magic! I had SUCH a refreshing afternoon photographing Drew & Morgan and their sweet pup, Fischer, at Berry College. We had to dodge some rain showers, but it was nothing compared to witnessing the gorgeous rainbow it produced afterward. : ) Can't wait for their wedding in Athens next spring! This is when we got caught in some rain...! They were good sports. : )
