KAT + MATT EXPECTING!

Well, I should say that Kat & Matt's little one is actually already here! I took these maternity photos in Washington, DC a little over a week ago, and THREE DAYS LATER Kat gave birth early to Margot (what an adorable name!). Everyone is happy and healthy, and I'm so glad we got these photos done when we did! I love having these two (three!) in front of my lens. I photographed Kat & Matt's wedding two summers ago, and it was an absolute pleasure to do their maternity session. Kat is a rockstar model and Matt is seriously the nicest, most sincere guy ever. When I would take solo shots of Kat, he'd be off to my side saying things of encouragement like, "Oh Kat, you are so beautiful." Made me tear up! I loved the places the couple picked out for their session: a quaint little street near where they live and the sculpture garden outside the National Gallery of Art. The rink was so beautiful with the twinkle lights -- made for awesome winter photos! And we finished with a few shots inside their apartment. Congrats to the happy parents. Newborn photos to come in a couple weeks...! : )

KATE + MATT - Providence Country Club Wedding

I've known Kate since college (well, really, since high school -- she went to the school in the town right next to mine), and she is one of the most sweet, laid back and funny people that I know (she's always cracking jokes and lightening the mood). I was so, SO happy when she asked me to shoot her and Matt's wedding; I knew it was going to be beautiful and full of fun and emotion. And I was right. : )

Some of my favorite parts of the day included: Matt seeing his bride for the first time (I'm a sucker for emotional grooms), the purple flower she had in her bouquet in memory of her dad (his favorite color) and the toasts during the reception.

KAT + MATT - Claxton Farm Wedding

In late July, I had the honor of joining Kat & Matt and their families in Asheville, North Carolina to photograph this lovely couple's wedding day. Aren't they beautiful?

I know Kat from my college days at UNC. When we met, she was the editor of the Blue & White, and I was a photographer for the magazine. I remember meeting with her after an assignment to get feedback on my photos. She was really helpful and one of the sweetest editors I'd met. : ) I'm so proud to have been chosen to photograph her and Matt's wedding. It's truly the biggest compliment EVER to photograph a visually talented person.

Kat and Matt were married at St. Eugene's Catholic Church in Asheville, and the reception was held at Claxton Farm, where I never tire of shooting. : )  When I think back about this wedding, two words come to mind: casual elegance. Everything was gorgeous and everyone was having a ball! No fuss, only fun. I LOVED the florals (a little too much, if that's possible) and the atmosphere. I also LOVE that Kat and Matt both come from big families (Kat is the youngest of seven sisters!). Photographing the kiddos at this wedding was a treat.

I wish all the happiness in the world for these newlyweds -- they definitely deserve the best! Enjoy some of my favorites, y'all.

KERRI + MATT - Jupiter, Florida Wedding - Part II of II

Kerri & Matt got married at a beautiful church in Hobe Sound - St. Christopher Catholic Church. The priest who married Kerri's parents also married Kerri & Matt. How special is that? On the way back from the church, we detoured to stop at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse for some quick portraits. The reception was held at The Loxahatchee Club, which provided a beautiful backdrop for the (amazing!) party.

The day was full of emotion and charm. My favorite parts were probably seeing Matt tear up while Kerri walked down the aisle with her dad, as well as watching Kerri and Matt during their vows. And I captured more than a few laughing fits between Matt and his mom (they both have awesome smiles!), which tug at my heartstrings. I also loved the unique elements that were incorporated into Kerri's attire: her purse was made from her mom and grandmother's wedding dresses, and Kerri wore a gardenia, her late grandmother's favorite flower, in her hair during the reception to honor her.

KERRI + MATT - Jupiter, Florida Wedding - Part I of II

Kerri & Matt got married in Jupiter, Florida (a beautiful place!) in early July. I met this awesome couple through another couple that I photographed in the Bahamas last year (love y'all!). Kerri & Matt actually met in the Bahamas; they couldn't be sweeter and more perfect for each other. I was lucky they chose me to shoot their rehearsal dinner and wedding.
